"Bissell Park" is a small central park located in the Village of River John. Anna Bissell, a River John native, was a successful businesswoman in an era when manufacturing was considered a man's domain. She married Melville Bissell at the age of 19 and became a partner in their crockery and China business. Anna became a travelling salesperson after he invented the carpet sweeper in 1876.
In 2019, the River John Community Action Society led the installation of floating docks at the park, making it easier and safer for kayakers, canoeists, and small boat users to access the water.
Whether you’re attending a community event or just enjoying a quiet afternoon, Bissell Park remains a special place to gather, reflect, and enjoy the natural beauty of River John.
