Merigomish and Area Recreation and Social Association is a non-profit community group dedicated to promoting activity in our rural environment. Volunteers help put together events, concerts, a Sunday market, and much more. 

GOALS:
- To stimulate interest in and to promote and encourage good wholesome forms of sport, recreation and community activities. 
- To promote the betterment of community life and cooperation in an all-inclusive way without barriers. 
- To provide and furnish suitable premises for carrying on such activities.

 To achieve these goals, MARSA shall provide and conduct varied programs to promote community participation, cooperation and sportsmanship.

The Merigomish Schoolhouse Marketplace is on Sundays from 10am to 1pm

Kids First Association is a tri-county project (Pictou, Antigonish and Guysborough Counties) which operates and staffs four permanent family resource centres (New Glasgow, Antigonish, Guysborough and Sherbrooke), and delivers free programs in over 20 different communities in the region. Kids First uses a strength-based, family-focused model.

Kids First Association offers a wide variety of services to pregnant women and families with children in Pictou, Antigonish, and Guysborough Counties.

Programs range from:

The club is a volunteer-led group responsible for the Trail Head Park, ball field, Community Food Forest, tennis courts and playground. We also coordinate a variety of events, programs and partner with others to ensure there are lots of recreation opportunities for our community.

The New Glasgow Fire Department offers specialized services and personnel trained in fire services, medical first response, motor vehicle collisions, Hazmat aid and ice and water rescue.

The Department is also a member of a county-wide mutual-aid agreement where they respond when needed to emergency situations throughout the region. Responding to more than 250 incidents annually from their station on Dalhousie Street, the New Glasgow Fire Department is proud to educate, protect and serve our community.

The force includes a Chief and Deputy, eight full-time operators, five spares and 32 paid on call members. Feel free to stop by and meet the friendly staff who are always happy to show you the trucks, answer your fire safety questions or give you a tour of their facility!

Situated on the beautiful East River of Pictou in New Glasgow's downtown core, Glasgow Square Theatre provides year-round entertainment with its award-winning indoor and outdoor stage. Since its opening in September of 2001, Glasgow Square has flourished and evolved, presenting a wide variety of performing arts including contemporary music, comedy, dance, live theatre, and more. In addition to hosting national and international touring acts, Glasgow Square proudly emphasizes and presents local and regional performers. As a proud member of Music Nova Scotia, East Coast Music Association and The Atlantic Presenters Association, Glasgow Square also plays an active presenting role in the music industry.

Glasgow Square has also hosted many major events and festivals such as the New Glasgow Riverfront Music Jubilee, New Glasgow’s Race on the River Dragon Boat Festival, Johnny Miles running events, and Pictou County Ribfest.

The Jubilee has welcomed ECMA, Music Nova Scotia, and JUNO Award winners & nominees to its stage. Our outdoor amphitheatre creates an energy that is hard to find anywhere else, offering one of the most engaging and up-close live music experiences in the region.

Since 1996, the Jubilee has been rooted in showcasing rising local talent alongside established national and international artists. It is a place where music lovers discover new favourites and connect with the incredible artists who thrive here along the Northumberland Shore.

The Jubilee is a signature Nova Scotia music event and an anchor in the local tourism industry. It has been named Music Nova Scotia’s Event of the Year three times, received two ECMA Event of the Year nominations, and earned the TIANS Golden Hospitality Award in 2013. Year after year, it remains one of the best entertainment values in Atlantic Canada.

The Jubilee is a volunteer driven, non-profit organization. It is guided by a dedicated volunteer Board of Directors and supported by more than 300 volunteers who help bring the festival to life.
