The Pictou County Hike Club is facilitated by staff from the Municipality of Pictou County, Town of Pictou, Town of Westville, and the Town of New Glasgow.

The Pioneer Coal Athletics Field is a 400m, 8 lane rubberized track and field complex complete with 4 horizontal jump pits, javelin runways, a discus & hammer throw cage, a shot put circle as well as a high jump and pole vault area. The facility is also equipped with washrooms on both levels, the D&L Landry canteen, an office space with high speed internet service and a spectator viewing room/trainers room.

The facility is available for bookings. Please contact us via email for fees and other inquiries. 

The facility is open from April until October for the community for walking, jogging and workouts. 

General science camp with hands on activities and demonstrations from a variety of branches of science.  This camp is geared towards female and female-identifying youth in Grades 1-4.

Public Space

PHAST (Port Hawkesbury Antigonish Swim Team) is a joint swim program for youth (7-18 years old) in the Antigonish & Port Hawkesbury areas. We offer development and competitive programs to help swimmers achieve fitness goals, good sportsmanship, and stroke development. If your child can swim the length of the pool (~25 m, or close to it), we will take it from there. Our coaches will work with the swimmers to develop their abilities. Athletes who achieve a minimum skill level will have opportunities to compete with other swimmers in regional and provincial age group competitions. Antigonish swimmers practice at the StFX Alumni Aquatic Centre, and the Port Hawkesbury swimmers practice at the SAERC pool. Each club practices on their own side of the causeway, but we combine forces to compete at swim meets and celebrate special events!

Registration for returning swimmers starts September 6, 2024; and for new swimmers starting September 9, 2024.

Quad County Female Hockey Association

Recreation Nova Scotia (RNS) is a not-for-profit organization that inspires and supports a diverse and comprehensive network of partners committed to addressing the recreation needs of all Nova Scotians through the provision of leadership and a strong provincial voice.

Established in 1998, RNS is a central voice for the recreation sector in Nova Scotia, providing leadership, training, and support to respond to national, provincial and local priorities.

Membership includes local governments, Provincial Recreation Organizations, recreation practitioners, students, academics, elected officials, and voluntary sector organizations across Nova Scotia who are the direct providers of recreation and related opportunities at the community level.

The Richard Swain Track and Field is a regulation size track and field. It also hosts a full size regulation soccer field. To book the Richard Swain Field please contact the Recreation Department.
