Search Page Overview
The Search page helps you quickly find and explore facilities, organizations, programs, and destinations within the PlayFinder platform. You can filter your search by type and activity, view detailed information about each result, and access useful actions like contacting organizations, visiting their websites, or viewing schedules.
Key Features:
- Search and Filter: Use the dropdown menus to filter results by type (e.g., Facility, Organization, Program) and activity. The page updates automatically as you select options.
- Results Table: Browse search results in a table with sortable columns such as Community Name, Name, Type, and Activity. Click column headers to sort the list.
- Quick Actions: For each result, you can:
- View more details and descriptions (including contact info and social media links).
- Access organization or facility schedules.
- Request booking access for facilities (if available and you are signed in).
- Explore equipment options (where applicable).
- Responsive Design: On smaller screens, tap the "More Info" button to see details in a pop-up window.
Use the search bar at the top to refine your search further. For help at any time, click the help button at the top of the page.
Tip: Hover over icons or buttons for tooltips explaining their function. If you need to contact an organization, click the email or social media links provided in the details section.
User Actions
- Select a value from the "Type" dropdown menu to filter the search results by type. The page updates automatically when a selection is made.
- Select a value from the "Activity" dropdown menu to filter the search results by activity. The page updates automatically when a selection is made.
- Use the search bar to enter keywords or phrases to further refine the search results.
- Click on the column headers "Community Name," "Name," "Type," or "Activity" in the table to sort the results by that column. Clicking a header updates the results and changes the sort order.
- Click on an organization, facility, program, or destination name (with logo, if available) to open its details page in a new browser tab.
- On smaller screens, click the "More Info" button (represented by an information icon) for a specific item to open a modal window with additional details, including description and contact options.
- In the modal window, click the "Close" button to dismiss the modal and return to the main page.
- In the modal window, click the email address to open your email client and send an email.
- In the modal window, click the website link to visit the organization's website in a new tab.
- In the modal window, click the social media icons (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) to visit the respective social media pages in a new tab.
- In the modal window, click the calendar icon to view the organization's schedule or facility schedule in a new tab.
- In the modal window, if available and if logged in, click the door icon to request booking capability for a facility.
- In the modal window, click the backpack icon to view equipment information in a new tab.
- On larger screens, click the "Actions" button for a specific item to open a dropdown menu with additional actions.
- In the dropdown menu, click "Email" to open your email client and send an email.
- In the dropdown menu, click "Website" to visit the organization's website in a new tab.
- In the dropdown menu, click "Facebook," "Twitter," "Instagram," or "YouTube" to visit the respective social media pages in a new tab.
- In the dropdown menu, click "Schedule" or "Facility Schedule" to view the organization's or facility's schedule in a new tab.
- In the dropdown menu, if available and if logged in, click "Request Booking" to request booking capability for a facility.

Dropdown Menus
On this page, you will see the following dropdown menus:
Type Dropdown
- Purpose: This dropdown allows you to filter the search results by the type of object you are interested in. For example, you can choose to view only facilities, organizations, programs, or other types available in the list.
- Options Provided: The options in this dropdown include different types of objects, such as Facility, Community Sport Organization, Provincial Organization, Community Organization, Program, Destination, and possibly others, depending on what is available in the system.
Activity Dropdown
- Purpose: This dropdown lets you filter the search results based on the activity offered. This helps you find objects that match the specific activity you are looking for.
- Options Provided: The options in this dropdown include various activities, such as Soccer, Basketball, Swimming, and other activities that are available in the system.
Both dropdowns are located near the top of the page, above the search results table. When you select an option from either dropdown, the page will automatically update to show results that match your selection.
Additionally, within the search results table, there is an Actions menu for each item (visible on larger screens). This menu appears as a button labeled "Actions" and provides a list of actions you can take for that specific item, such as visiting the website, sending an email, viewing social media pages, or accessing schedules and equipment. This menu is not a traditional dropdown for filtering or searching, but rather a menu of actions related to each search result.
